Salem Sharks

On Saturday evening I had the privilege of attending Salem's first annual Salem Sharks, a live entrepreneurial investment show based after the ABC show, "Shark Tank"! Wow, what an amazing program that Salem really needed. Props to everyone involved in the planning.

So here's how it played out... 10 businesses, either starting up or in their first couple years, were chosen out of many applicants. The 10 chosen then had 90 seconds to present their product and/or services to a panel of four "Sharks". What a fascinating and well diverse panel of prospective investors from the Salem, Oregon area.  Each of the investors were willing to dish out up to $30,000 to help the business that pitched and ONE presenter would win a $50,000 prize package that included services such as: financial planning, patents, website and marketing, and start up fees.

Investor Rick Day, president of Advantage Precast, chose to invest in a start-up all natural mineral makeup line, Love Me Recovery. He gave the Monmouth, Ore presenter $25,000 with 51% of sales and a website and marketing package! A single mom, who's business is about to change!

Full Circle Creamery out of Scio, OR, known for their handcrafted Oregon made cheese, won the remarkable $50,000 donated prize package presented to her by business consultant, Michael Hill. A couple companies that have offered their service for this package include, Third River Marketing and Salem IT.

Other investors included: Tan Republic Franchisee Lance Donnely; and Rich Duncan, from Rich Duncan Construction! Once I get the names of all 10 participants I will update this post with their information because they ALL are worth supporting!

I, as I am sure many others that attended, felt extraordinarily privileged to attend this event. Bring on 2014!
(Mr. AJ Nash, our host)
